Cellcast to launch its first interactive 3G TV programmes
14th February 2006
Company’s 3G strategy will let viewers appear within the TV shows themselves
Cellcast plc (AIM:CLTV), a global interactive digital broadcaster, today announces its first television show to fully integrate 3G mobile calls from viewers.
Cellcast’s popular TV dating programme, Text2date, which is broadcast daily on the youtv2 channel on the Sky Digital platform, will, later this month, allow members of the public with 3G mobile phones to send in video content and participate with studio guests and other viewers.
The Company recently completed the integration of inbound 3G video into its proprietary Interactive Platform (CIP). Working with the mobile services company Requestec, Cellcast plans to roll the technology out across the entire portfolio of its television formats in a fully-moderated, time delayed environment. The Company is also integrating Requestec’s Fonebar service into its platform to enable video chat between mobile users.
The next stage in the evolution of Cellcast’s 3G strategy, due to be completed in the first half of 2006, is the addition of a 3G3D module which enables 3G videos to be mapped directly onto 3D avatars in the live environment. This will usher in a new style of participation television formats where the user not only interacts from home but appears within the show itself.
Commenting on the launch of the new interactive 3G programmes, Andrew Wilson, CEO of Cellcast plc said: “Cellcast is particularly focused on user-generated conversational and personal broadcasting content. The increasing technical sophistication of mobile phones is playing a major role in the growth of photo messaging, multimedia SMS and video blogging, all of which the Company is capturing in new programme formats and applications”.
Andrew Wilson added: “Cellcast continues to use leading-edge multimedia applications to achieve differentiated programme and content offerings, generating new revenue opportunities for our broadcast and telecom partners”.
Forrester Research is forecasting that 68% of UK mobile users will have signed up for 3G services by 2010.

Notes to Editors:
Cellcast plc is a leading international provider of participation television applications and interactive mobile content in the fast-growing multi-platform digital entertainment sector. Headquartered in London, with associated operations in Paris, Beirut, Mumbai, Hong Kong and Buenos Aires, Cellcast’s applications and programming are distributed on the Sky Digital platform in the UK and broadcast partners include Canal+ in France; Future TV, LBC, MBC, Dubai Television and Rotana in the Middle East; Telefe in Argentina, and Zee TV and Star TV in India.
Cellcast’s revenues streams are independent of both advertising and subscription fees. With a network of revenue sharing agreements with telecommunications carriers and aggregators across five continents, Cellcast receives a share of the call revenue every time a consumer uses a mobile or fixed-line phone to participate in its interactive entertainment, revenue which is retained or shared with its broadcast partners. Cellcast’s programme formats and proprietary Interactive Platform (CIP) also facilitate delivery of content to mobile phones, the internet and broadband-delivered IPTV. This enables viewers to continue participating in a programme away from the TV, generating 24/7 revenue opportunities.
Cellcast plc joined the AIM market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange on 21 September 2005.
